First-ever virtual reality festival is launched!
Sharks in the IJ? A new fountain on the Buikslotermeerplein? Concerts in Tolhuistuin?
At the first glance everything seems as it was at the festival ‘Zo niet, dan toch’, but once you enter the virtual public space of Amsterdam North, you will discover a wealth of innovative projects.
‘Zo niet, dan toch’ is the first Dutch festival that takes place entirely in the virtual world, putting augmented reality and location-based virtual projects on the map. The festival allows visitors a new way of experiencing visual arts, entertainment, film, architecture, theatre, dance and music. The festival explores the virtual stage where nothing is impossible and everyone has access. The ticket is already in your pocket: your mobile phone.
The festival takes place on Saturday 7th September, across Amsterdam North and shows existing and new work by artists, designers and hackers. With mobile phone in hand explore a world full of stories around quotes, sharks, gnomes and ‘naked’ Northerners. Meet architect Van der Pek – virtual, but in real life, go on safari in the Vogelbuurt and finish the evening with a virtual concert and Silent Mobile Disco in Tolhuistuin. Are you the proud owner of an old Nokia 1103? Then come with us on one of our guided iPad tours.
